FAQ Divan Buying Guides From Bradfords in Evesham
Storage beds: which one should I buy?
When it comes to finding the perfect storage bed for you, there are a few important things that you need to consider:
- How much room do you have?
- What do you want to store?
- How often do you want to access your items?
Knowing the answers to these questions will help you decide which storage bed you should buy.
1. How much room do you have?
The right storage bed for you depends on how much space you have in your room. If you have a smaller bedroom, an ottoman bed opens upwards – so no additional space beside your bed is required. You could also choose a bed with drawers on one side, or at the end.
2. What do you want to store?
Storing things underneath a bed is the easiest way to keep your bedroom clutter-free. Before you purchase a storage bed, you need to consider what you want to store inside it.
Storage beds often come with a weight restriction, so it’s wise to check how much weight your bed can hold. Weight restrictions may vary per manufacturer. If you are unsuregive us a call and we’ll be more than happy to help.
3. How often do you want to access your items?
When you are considering what storage bed you should buy, you should think about how often you want to use the items being stored.
- Daily basis – Drawer storage is great for storing extra clothing or everyday items. Individual drawers make it easy to organise your storage for easy access.
- Monthly or yearly – If you are storing large or seasonal items, ottoman storage is very useful. The large storage space and easy-lift top make it easy to access throughout the year.
Does the Bed come with a Headboard?
No – All headboards are additional
Do the bed bases come in different colours/textures?
Yes, we have a multitude of colours across all bed manufactures for you to select.
What’s the best colour for an upholstered bed?
A bold or vibrant colour for an upholstered bed guarantees that your new bed will make a strong design statement. Choose a colour that you absolutely love, of course. If you like to change your bedroom décor from time to time, we suggest a sophisticated neutral shade. Our grey upholstered divan beds are very much on trend and go with so many other design styles and colour palettes.
Are Divan Beds Easy to Assemble?
When you buy your bed from Bradfords we deliver to your room and assemble for you, all you have to do is make the bed! But,yes, divan beds are the easiest type of bed to assemble. Your divan will arrive in two base halves (one whole piece if you buy a single-sized divan bed), complete with divan legs and a headboard, if you’ve chosen one. Follow these step-by-step divan bed assembly instructions:
- Turn the two base halves upside-down and attach the divan castors/legs
- Turn the bases over and push together, securing them with the locking clips on either side
- Add the headboard (if you’ve chosen one) using the pre-drilled headboard sockets. The sockets are found at both ends of the bed, for convenience.
Are Divan Beds expensive?
Divan bed and mattress sets are usually much cheaper than purchasing a bed frame and mattress separately! We offer a wide range of divan bed and mattress sets to suit your budget – starting from as little as £195.00
What different divan bases are they?
Like bed frames, divans come with different support systems. These support systems work in harmony with your mattress and contribute to the overall support and firmness. There are two main types of support options for your divan base: a platform top base and a sprung divan base.
- Platform top divan base – A platform top divan base is constructed from a wooden frame and a solid panel top. It’s a great option if you’re looking for firm support and a sturdy, solid base for your mattress.
- Sprung divan base – Made from a built-in spring unit, sprung divan bases offer more flexible, gentle support – slightly softening the feel of even the firmest mattress. This divan base is ideal if you prefer a softer, cushioned level of comfort.
What is the difference between a platform top base and a sprung base?
Both platform top bases and sprung bases can be found within divan beds. Whilst they both offer a supportive surface for your mattress and a comfortable night’s sleep for you, the key differences between the two can be found in the:
- Type of construction used
- Level of firmness
- Price
Platform top divan base
A supportive and solid surface, a platform top is essentially a rigid, sturdy base for your mattress. It doesn’t contain springs; instead, it’s simply constructed from a timber frame and a solid panel top. This type of construction makes it a firmer option, and also cheaper.
Sprung divan base
Constructed using a spring unit within the base, a sprung divan is a more flexible, gently supportive base. It offers slightly more “give” for your mattress than a platform top, and is a little more flexible. For this reason, it can often prolong the life of your mattress. This type of construction makes it a less firm, but slightly more expensive option.
